HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY


ARL Solutions is firmly committed to the provision of a safe and healthy workplace for workers and subcontractors in accordance and compliance with all legislation requirements including duties under:

  • Health and at Work Act 2015
  • HSW (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016
  • HSW (Major Hazard Facilities) Regulations 2016
  • HSW (Worker Engagement, Participation and Representation) Regulations 2016
  • HSW (Asbestos) Regulations 2016
  • Approved Code of Practice for the Management and Removal of Asbestos
  • Approved codes of practice not mentioned
  • Standards and best practice guidelines not mentioned

 

In meeting these duties, the ARL Solutions seeks to:

  • Obtain and hold a valid class A asbestos removal license fulfilling all additional duties that the license requires
  • Ensure that the ARL Solutions’ workers and subcontractors work in a healthy and safe manner and are not injured (or do not cause injury to others) while working on the ARL Solutions’ premises and work sites
  • Achieve continual improvement in occupational health and safety management through external accreditation, internal auditing, and management reviews
  • Achieve continual improvement in occupational health and safety performance through internal auditing of work sites, performance reviews of all employees, accident and injury processes, and other audit, review, inspection, and planning processes not mentioned
  • Compliance with all applicable regulations, codes of practice, safe work instruments, and other regulatory or guiding documents as described above.
  • Encourage worker consultation and participation in health and safety matters, including external guidance from worker nominated representatives and union officials
  • Promote measures to prevent injury and illness by insisting on safe methods, safe equipment, proper materials and safe practices at all times
  • Maintain a list of preferred subcontractors who are eligible to tender for work for the ARL Solutions in terms of meeting or exceeding the ARL Solutions’ standard for health and safety documentation
  • Ensure the accurate timely reporting of incidents (injury and non-injury), investigation and required corrective actions
  • Share a commitment to ensure the safe and early return to work of injured workers
  • Promote a system of continual improvement including, at minimum, annual reviews of procedures and policy
  • Design, construct, operate and maintain our assets so that they safeguard people and property
  • ARL Solutions supports and maintains an alcohol and drug free work environment

 

Scope

This policy applies to all workers who carry out work for ARL Solutions. The following procedures must also be followed by staff subcontracted to complete work for the ARL Solutions. The subcontractor’s terms and conditions should include relevant health and safety arrangements.  ARL Solutions Management is expected to be familiar with this OHSMS and supporting documents.

 

Health and safety objectives

Occupational health and safety objectives are to be set by and reviewed by ARL Solutions management periodically in accordance with the OHSMS internal audits and management reviews.  ARL Solutions sets objectives using the SMART scheme -  Specific objectives with Measurable outcomes; Achievable goals that can be Reasonably met and have a Timeframe in which they are to be reached.

 

Purpose

To set out ARL Solutions’ commitment to having a safe and healthy work environment, and to outline the responsibilities for pro-actively managing risks and preventing accidents.

 

Review and communication

This policy will be review periodically in accordance with the internal audits and management reviews as set out by this document.  At the conclusion of the management review, this policy will be distributed and communicated to all workers who carry out work to ARL Solutions.  This current policy will also be distributed to each new employee upon company induction.
